On the same night that A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie performed the Vancouver leg of his Monster Outbreak tour at the Commodore Ballroom, DJ Ominaya(Instagram/@djominaya), who is A Boogie’s official DJ, came to Fortune Sound Club to headline Midnight Monday.

Before DJ Ominaya got in the building, the focus of the event was on Unity Dance Company(Instagram/@unitydanceco), who killed all of their routines and definitely drew everyone’s attention. That was the first time I’ve personally seen a dance company be an opener at a club but it definitely served the purpose of getting the crowd energy up, and it definitely made people want to stay on the dance floor.
Another great component to the night was the Routine Supply(routinesupply.com) streetwear booth that was set up all night where owner, and an actual day one homie of mine, Ivan Pecuh(Instagram/@routine_supply) was holding it down and outfitting the males & females in some very clean hoodies, tees, necklaces, rings and more. All sales on this night were by donation as well, which made the fresh gear even more buyable. Having the streetwear booth there definitely added a great presence to the room and brought a unique element to the event.
Once DJ Ominaya took the Fortune stage the crowd was already moving and he kept the energy going by kicking off his set with Reggaeton and Spanish pop hits because you know those off-beat drums get the people really dancing. From there Ominaya started playing some Beyonce & similar songs and started shouting out all the single females in the building, which got all the girls going crazy and brought the environment up another level. From there some smoother R&B from artists like Khalid provided nice bass lines to keep the party going and contributed as a transition from the pop/dance part of the night into the more Hip Hop oriented finish.
Once some bounce started to set into the crowd DJ Ominaya started to pull out some Hip Hop favorites and of course some A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, which the attendees were hyped to hear as a lot were coming from his show. Ominaya continued with a mix of Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B for the rest of the night and definitely kept the vibe rolling.

Overall, DJ Ominaya at Midnight Monday was definitely a bumpin party and with $4 drink specials and free Church’s Chicken being passed around(praise the lord), no one was having a bad time. Ominaya definitely did his duty by keeping the energy moving and locking people onto the dance floor with a variety of songs and sounds as well. Make sure to follow Fortune Sound Club(Instagram/@fortunesound) to see when you can make it to Midnight Monday so you can start of your week bumpin.
